This bachelor thesis focuses on how adolescents perceive death and dying and what attitudes they hold towards this topic. Whether they are afraid of death and dying, and whether and what influence spirituality, experience or the gender factor has on their perception. The research uses quantitative research methods, specifically a questionnaire survey in which 561 people aged 15 to 20 years participated. Respondents were presented with a questionnaire obtaining demographic data and information about their spirituality and experience of death. The second questionnaire already focused on their attitudes towards death, using the Death Attitude Profile Revised (DAP-R) questionnaire by Wong, Reker and Gesser. The results of this paper show a significant effect of certain experiences and spirituality on attitudes towards death, but for the factor of gender we find a significant effect in only one of the scales of the DAP-R questionnaire, namely the fear of death scale. For the influence of spirituality, we disaggregate the influence of religious beliefs and belief in the afterlife. Adolescents holding religious beliefs score higher in death acceptance and positive attitude towards death, and lower in fear of death, lower in avoidance of the topic of death, and statistically significantly lower in negative attitude towards death. For adolescents with beliefs about the afterlife, we observe a higher acceptance of death and a more positive attitude towards death. We divide the experience into general experience of death, where there is a significant difference in the scales of acceptance of death and positive attitude towards death, as well as in the shared experience of care or feelings about death. We do not observe a significant difference for the experience of the death of a loved one at any time in the adolescent's life and for personal care of the dying. However, regarding the frequency of being in the presence of the dying person, there is an observable tendency towards a more positive attitude towards death and an escape attitude towards death.
