Tato diplomová práce se zabývá jednak životem a vládou Josefa II. na základě faktů z oblasti historiografie, jednak obrazem panovníka ve vybraných historických románech. Cílem práce je porovnat tyto jeho obrazy, poukázat na jejich případné společné znaky či rozdíly a především objasnit, jestli se pohled na Josefa II. během let zásadně měnil či ne. S tématem souvisí také další otázky, na které se práce snaží nalézt odpovědi.This diploma thesis deals on the one hand with life and reign of Joseph II. on the grounds of facts from historiography, on the other hand with depiction of the ruler in several chosen historical novels. The final task of the thesis is to compare these depictions of his, to point to potential common characteristics or differences of these and mainly to make clear if the perception of Joseph II. has fundamentally changed over the years or not. The thesis attempts also to find the answers to the other questions, which relating to the topic.
