Hlavním cílem bakalářské práce Narativní komparace románu Jessie a Morgiana (1929) ruského novoromantika Alexandra Grina s jeho filmovou adaptací Morgiana (1972) režiséra Juraje Herze bylo zodpovězení otázky: do jaké míry se Juraj Herz držel literární předlohy a jak moc se pod vlivem jeho autorské invence změnila narativní struktura filmu a jeho celkový význam. Jako základního teoretického východiska bylo využito publikace Novel to film: An Introduction to the Theory of Adaptation Briana McFarlana. Důraz byl primárně kladen na identifikaci jednotlivých adaptačních procesů, tedy především na transfer, který lze dále rozdělit na distribuční a integrační narativní funkce, a vlastní adaptaci. V rámci vlastní adaptace se práce věnovala způsobu vyprávění a kinematografickým kódům. K analýze kinematografických kódů poté bylo využito rozdělení filmových prvků podle Davida Bordwella a Kristin Thompsonové na kameru, střih, mizanscénu a zvuk.The main aim of The Narrative Comparison of the Novel Jessie and Morgiana (1929) by Alexandr Grin with its Film Adaptation Morgiana (1972) by Juraj Herz was to answer the question: to what extent Juraj Herz stuck to the novel and how much of the narrative structure changed under the influence of his author´s invention. The concept of Brian McFarlane and his publication Novel to film: An Introduction to the Theory of Adaptation was use as the primary theoretical basis. The main focus was to identify individual adaptation processes, especially the transfer, which can be divided into distributional and integrational functions and the adaptation proper. Within the adaptation proper, the thesis focused on the way of narration and cinematic codes. The division of film elements according to David Bordwell and Kristin Thompson (camera, editing, mise-en-sc?ne, sound) was then used to analyse the cinematic codes.
