Diplomová práce zkoumá význam hraniční poruchy osobnosti (HPO) pro jedince s touto diagnózou. Zvoleným výzkumným designem je metoda zakotvené teorie v pojetí Strausse a Corbinové. Výzkumný vzorek tvoří 10 jedinců s HPO a byl získán metodou samovýběru. Cílem práce je na základě analýzy polostrukturovaných interview vytvořit novou teorii a zodpovědět výzkumné otázky: (1) Co znamená HPO pro nositele této diagnózy? (2) Kdy má stanovená diagnóza HPO význam pro jejího nositele? Teoretická část práce uvádí obecné informace o HPO a reflektuje genezi diagnostické kategorie HPO. The thesis explores the meaning of borderline personality disorder (BPD) for those with this diagnosis. The grounded theory as approached by Strauss and Corbin was used. The sample consists of 10 individuals with BPD and was obtained with a self-selection sampling. The aim of the thesis is to develop a new theory based on the analysis of semi-structured interviews and to answer the following research questions: (1) What does BPD mean to those who receive this diagnosis? (2) When does the diagnosis of BPD have meaning for its recipients? The theoretical part provides general information about BPD and reflects on the genesis of the diagnostic category of BPD. The next chapters present the psychiatric concept of BPD in its categorical and dimensional approach as anchored in the diagnostic manuals DSM-5, ICD-10, and ICD-11. Furthermore, Kernberg's psychostructural concept of borderline personality organization is presented. The theory is supported by selected phenomena from clinical practice. The analysis reveals that the recipients of this diagnosis take a triple standpoint to BPD, while the relationship to the diagnosis in terms of the psychiatric category is marginal and variable. The main point of the theory is the central category of 'Self as otherness', which exists in dynamic interactions to the other two categories - 'Social Connections and Norms' and 'Diagnosis as Similarity'.
