Diplomová práce se zabývá projevy fenoménu shrinking city v českých a slovenských městech. Cílovou skupinou výzkumu jsou česká a slovenská města s populací nad 5000 obyvatel, která jsou klasifikována do velikostních skupin a kategorizována na základě míry indexu shrinkage. První část práce teoreticky ukotvuje daný výzkumný problém a definuje procesy, které s fenoménem souvisí. Nastíněn je i časoprostorový vývoj tohoto fenoménu. Empirická část je založena na analýze sekundárních dat pocházejících z databáze českého a slovenského statistického úřadu, na jejichž základě hodnotí vývoj počtu obyvatelstva českých a slovenských měst mezi obdobím 2001-2020. Hlavním cílem diplomové práce je identifikace a klasifikace zmenšujících se měst České republiky a Slovenska. Práce posuzuje případné rozdíly v intenzitě tohoto fenoménu v jednotlivých velikostních skupinách. V závěru práce jsou porovnány rozdíly dynamiky fenoménu obou zkoumaných států. Součástí práce je také diskuze, která kriticky nahlíží na výsledky práce a porovnává její závěry s dosavadními výzkumy.The diploma thesis deals with the manifestations of the shrinking city phenomenon in Czech and Slovak cities. The target group of the research are Czech and Slovak cities with a population of over 5,000 inhabitants, which are divided into size groups and categories based on the shrinkage index rate. The first part of the thesis theoretically anchors the research problem and defines the processes related to the phenomenon. The spatiotemporal development of this phenomenon is also outlined. The epirical part is based on the analysis of secondary data from the database of the Czech and Slovak statistical offices, based on which it evaluates the development of the population of Czech and Slovak cities between 2001-2020. The main goal of this paper is to assesses possible differences in the intensity of this phenomenon in individual size groups. At the end of the work, the differences in the dynamics of the phenomenon of both studied countries are compared. Part of the work is also a discussion, which critically looks at the results of the work and compares its conclusions with previous research.
