En la presente tesina tematizo la misión cristiana en el Nuevo Mundo y en Japón, concretamente la documentación de su realización. Basándome en el análisis de la correspondencia de los misioneros y de los trabajos teoréticos relacionados con la misión en estas regiones, quisiera destacar el discurso simbólico mediante el cual se había creado tanto la imagen de las localidades respectivas como la de la misión como tal. El análisis es realizado dentro de un marco temporal (s. XVI) en consideración tanto a los aspectos sociales y políticos como al concepto de la Otredad de las dos culturas respectivas. Dada la complejidad de la metodología de la Otredad, a fines de este trabajo utilizo solamente los constructos teoréticos básicos que podemos encontrar en los textos analizados y que al mismo tiempo ilustran la conexión de las categorías respectivas y su alterabilidad.This thesis focuses on the issue of the Christian mission in the New World and in Japan, namely on the documentation of its execution. Based on the correspondence of the missionaries as well as on the theoretic works regarding the mission in the given territories, I would like to point out the symbolic discourse that influenced the creation of the image of both regions as well as of the mission itself. The analysis of the selected texts is carried out against the historical background of the particular time period (16th century) with regard to the social and political aspects as well as to the concept of the Otherness in the context of each culture. Considering the complexity of the methodology of the Otherness, for the purpose of this thesis I'm applying only the basic theoretic constructs that can be found in the selected texts and that illustrate the connection between these categories and their variability.
