The purpose of this thesis is to examine the myth of Pyramus and Thisbe in various works of the Spanish Golden Age. The text of the Roman poet Ovid serves as a conceptual and symbolic base, to which they "respond" creatively to different re-elaborations in Spanish literature. For methodological reasons, we dedicate a chapter to Renaissance imitatio, because it is in the context of literary mimesis that we must situate the process of creative re-elaboration. Also, we base the analysis on the thematic studies, dedicated to the study of the modifications of a theme, a motive, or a specific literary topos. In the central part, we focus on the versions of Cristóbal del Castillejo, Jorge de Montemayor, Antonio de Villegas, Miguel de Cervantes, Luis de Góngora, Miguel Botello de Carvallo and Tirso de Molina. After this part we dedicate a chapter on the different interpretations that change according to the social and cultural aspects of the time.
