O presente trabalho pretende apresentar a evoluçao da censura literária em Portugal, desde os seus inícios no século XVI até a sua aboliçao depois da Revoluçao dos Cravos em 1974 e os temas crucias que foram proibidos pelo governo durante o regime de Salazar e de Caetano. O objetivo desse trabalho é analisando as páginas indicadas no relatório dos censores N? 9462, de 26 de Maio de 1972 relativo a Novas Cartas Portuguesas revelar os temas indesejáveis e inaceitáveis pelo regime autoritário como: sexualidade, guerra, desigualdades do genero, morte etc. que podiam contribuir para o desenvolvimento social e político tanto da sociedade portuguesa da década de 1970, quanto a sociedade de hoje.This master's thesis aims to present the evolution of literary censorship in Portugal, from its beginnings in the 16th century until its abolition after the Carnation Revolution in 1974 and the central themes that were prohibited by the government during Salazar's and Caetano's regime. The objective of this work is to do so by analyzing the pages indicated in the report of the censors N? 9462, of May 26, 1972, regarding New Portuguese Letters, in order to identify the undesirable and unacceptable themes by the authoritarian regime, including, among other, sexuality, war, gender inequalities, and death. The author will argue that these themes contribute to the social and political development of both Portuguese society of the 1970s as well as the one of today.
