Tato diplomová práce se zabývá komparativní analýzou tří existujících anglických překladů románu Válka s mloky Karla Čapka se zaměřením na vybrané aspekty Čapkova stylu. V teoretické části se práce zaměřuje na teorii stylu, autorského stylu a stylu v souvislosti s překladem. Dále se zabývá dílem Karla Čapka a jeho autorským stylem a překladateli románu Válka s mloky. V rámci této části byl také vypracován seznam překladů všech děl Karla Čapka do angličtiny. V části práce zaměřené na analýzu je zkoumána Válka s mloky z pohledu autorského stylu a následně je provedena komparativní analýza anglických překladů tohoto díla, jejichž překladateli jsou Marie a Robert Weatherallovi, Ewald Osers a David Wyllie. Analýza se zaměřuje na převod jevů typických pro styl Karla Čapka, kterými jsou grafické uspořádání románu, střídání jazykových variet v textu, použití středníků v textu a cizí jazykové prvky v textu.This present thesis deals with comparative analysis of three existing English translations of novel War with the Newts written by Karel Čapek with the focus on selected aspects of Čapek's style. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on theory of style, authorial style and style in connection with translation. Furthermore, it also includes brief introduction into work of Karel Čapek, explores his authorial style and introduces English translators of War with the Newts. This chapter also contains a list of all English translations of Karel Čapek's work. In the empirical part, the novel War with the Newts is analysed from the point of view ofauthorial style and then follows a comparative analysis of three English translations of the novel by Marie and Robert Weatherall, Ewald Osers and David Wyllie. The analysis is focused on features typical for authorial style of Karel Čapek which is graphic arrangement of the novel, the usage of language varieties, the usage of semicolons in the text and foreign-language units in the text.
