Diplomová práce s názvem Evropské parlamentní volby a teorie voleb druhého řádu mezi lety 2004-2014 se zabývá ověřením platnosti historického konceptu teorie voleb druhého řádu na území České republiky ve sledovaném období. Práce detailně vymezuje základní principy, na kterých je tato uznávaná teorie vystavěna. Spolu s nimi definuje funkci jedné z hlavních institucí Evropské unie - Evropského parlamentu, včetně jeho volebního modelu pro volby do tohoto tělesa. Praktická část práce analyzuje jednotlivá volební klání v letech 2004, 2009 a 2014, načež z nich vzešlé výsledky slouží k ověření platnosti teorie SOE, tedy zdali je na území České republiky stále validní. K tomuto ověření využívá především dvou ukazatelů promítnutých do hypotéz: sledování volební účasti a zastoupení konkrétních politických subjektů v jednotlivých volbách. V závěru práce poté shrnuje volby do Evropského parlamentu konané v roce 2019 a nastiňuje autorův pohled na budoucí vývoj voleb na první i druhé úrovni.This diploma thesis entitled European Parliamentary Elections and the Theory of Second Order Elections between 2004-2014 deals with the verification of the validity of the historical concept of the theory of second order elections in the Czech Republic in the period under review. The thesis defines in detail the basic principles on which this recognized theory is built. Thesis also defines the function of one of the main institutions of the European Union - the European Parliament, including its electoral model for elections to this body. The practical part of the work analyzes the individual elections in 2004, 2009 and 2014, after which the results from them serve to verify the validity of the SOE theory, ie whether it is still valid in the Czech Republic. For this verification, it mainly uses two indicators reflected in the hypotheses: monitoring of turnout and the representation of specific political entities in individual elections. At the end of the thesis, it summarizes the elections to the European Parliament held in 2019 and outlines the author's view of the future development of elections at the first and second order.
