V případě raka byla změna ještě výraznější a navíc došlo i ke změně poměru výšky těla k celkové délce pozorovaných jedinců. The ability of an organism to adapt to an ever-changing environment is one of the fundamental conditions for the successful survival of both an individual and whole species. The goal of this thesis was to evaluate, based on experiment, the rate of hatching of tadpoles and the degree of phenotypic plasticity in tadpoles of the European Green Toad (Bufotes viridis), in correlation with the presence of a non-native predator. The degree of phenotypic plasticity was assessed by the changes in body size and its proportions. An experiment was carried out in which eggs and tadpoles were exposed in laboratory conditions to the presence of a predator or only its chemical cues in water. Signal Crayfish (Pacifastacus leniusculus) and Topmouth Gudgeon (Pseudorasbora parva) were used as predators. Based on the results, it was found that both contact with predator and the contact with its chemical cues itself caused increase in the total length of the tadpoles. This was valid for both predators, however the crayfish induced even more significant increase in total length and also caused increase in body height to total length ratio of observed individuals. The potential impacts of non-native predators on the European Green Toad populations are also assessed in the discussion.
