Cílem práce bylo provést neoformalistickou analýzu vybraných snímků Tima Burtona, jejíž základní principy byly čerpány z textu Kristin Thompsonové Neoformalistická filmová analýza: jeden přístup, mnoho metod, a určit dominanty těchto snímků, kterými jsou prvky expresionismu a gotiky. Předmětem analýz bylo nalézt tyto prvky, ty následně interpretovat z hlediska toho, jakým způsobem je Burton využívá ve svých filmech a komparovat analyzované složky mezi jednotlivými filmy. Analýzy se zaměřily na charakteristiku žánru a postav, mizanscénu, kameru, střih, zvuk a hudbu. Na základě provedených analýz bylo zjištěno, že je Burton ve svých filmech silně ovlivněn expresionismem i gotikou a jeho styl se s ohledem na žánr ani dobu příliš nemění.The aim of this work was to do neoformalist analysis of Tim Burton's selected films, whose basic principles were drawn from Kristin Thompson's text Neoformalist film analysis: one approach, many methods, and define dominants of these films, which are elements of expressionism and gothic. The subject of analyses was to find these elements, to interpret them in terms of how Burton uses them in his films and compare the analyzed components between particular films. Analyses focused on genre and character characteristic, mise-en-scene, camera, film cut, sound and music. Based on the analyses was find out, Burton is strongly influenced by expressionism and gothic in his films and his style doesn't much change considering genre and period.
