Diplomová práce se zabývá sporem o lokalizaci mozkových funkcí a jeho reflexí ve filozofii mysli. Staví na principu teorie identity v mind-body problému, přičemž mimo filozofických témat zabíhá rovněž do oblastí neurovědy a kognitivní psychologie. Práce je strukturovaná do čtyř kapitol: první kapitola pojednává o frenologii, která navzdory své pseudovědecké povaze slouží jako úvod do problému lokalizace. V krátkosti zde také zmiňuji otázku rozdílů mezi ženským a mužským mozkem, která je podle mě v kontextu práce rovněž relevantní. Druhá kapitola se věnuje samotnému sporu mezi pozicemi lokalizace a holismu, který vrcholil ve své klasické podobě v devatenáctém století. Zohledňuji zde také moderní interpretace problému a ke konci kapitoly se věnuji lateralizaci mozkových funkcí a výzkumu pacientů se split-brain syndromem. Třetí kapitola je zasvěcena extenzivní analýze obou verzí modulární teorie mysli a zmiňuje také její kritiku. Poslední část diplomové práce vyvozuje důsledky cerebrální plasticity pro modulární teorii mysli a pro problém lokalizace mozkových funkcí.The diploma thesis deals with the dispute over localization of cerebral functions and its reflection in the philosophy of mind. It is based on the identity theory in mind-body problem and apart from philosophical issues also deals with topics from neuroscience and cognitive psychology. The thesis is structured into four chapters: the first chapter focuses on phrenology, which, despite its pseudoscientific nature, serves as an introduction to the issue of localization. I also shortly mention the question of the differences between male and female brains, which I consider to be relevant in the context of the thesis. The second chapter is dedicated to the dispute between localization and holism itself, which peaked in its classic form in the nineteenth century. I take into account the modern interpretation of the issue as well, and toward the end of the chapter I also deal with the lateralization of cerebral functions and the research of patients with split-brain syndrome. The third chapter is aimed at an extensive analysis of both versions of the modularity of mind hypothesis and also mentions its criticism. The last section of the thesis debates the consequences of neuroplasticity for the modularity of mind and for the dispute over localization of cerebral functions.
