Tato práce se zabývá porovnáním tří překladových verzí hry The Crucible napsané Arthurem Millerem. Práce sestává ze dvou částí. V teoretické části jsou představeny kapitoly zahrnující hru samotnou. To znamená, že jsou uvedeny okolnosti vzniku díla spolu s několika slovy o autorovi. Dále je stručně popsán děj a charakterizovány postavy pro snazší orientaci v rozborech uvedených v druhé části práce. Jsou zde zahrnuty kapitoly týkající se překladu divadelních her. Jedná se o aspekty dramatu související s překladem divadelních her. Dále je obsažena kapitola o problematice překladu divadelních her či kapitola představující význam paratextu. V praktické části jsou uvedeny medailonky překladatelů hry a představeny rozbory jednotlivých překladových verzí. Praktická část je rozdělena do kapitol pojednávajících o překladu vlastních jmen, tykání a vykání, překladu metafor či aktualizaci slovní zásoby, protože právě v těchto oblastech lze analyzovat rozdíly mezi verzemi. Jsou zde vždy představeny repliky se zvýrazněnými pasážemi, které jsou pro analýzu stěžejní. Na konci každé kapitoly jsou obsažena shrnutí poznatků z rozborů. V závěru jsou uvedeny poznatky z analýz příkladů z jednotlivých překladových verzí.This thesis deals with a comparison of three versions of the play The Crucible which was written by Arthur Miller. The thesis consists of two parts. In the theoretical part, there are introduced the chapters on the play itself. That means that there are circumstances about the origin of the play introduced as well as a couple of words about the author. The plot of the play is described briefly, the characters are described here because of the easier navigation in the analyses which are introduced in the second part of the thesis. There are included the chapters on theater translation, particularly the aspects of drama which are connected to the translation of theater plays. There is also a chapter on issues which may arise when translating theater plays or a chapter on the meaning of paratext. Short introductions of the translators of the play are part of the practical part of the thesis. The practical part is divided into chapters dealing with the translation of proper names, T/V distinction, translation of metaphors or vocabulary actualization due to the fact that it is possible to analyze in such fields differences between the versions. There are always presented the lines with marked sections which are vitally important for the analysis. Summary of analyses of every chapter takes place at the end of every chapter. The findings drawn from the analyses of the examples of every translation version are included in the conclusion.
