Cílem diplomové práce bylo přiblížit život jedince s kochleárním implantátem. V textu se zabýváme sluchem a sluchovým postižením, kochleárním implantátem a procesem jeho implantace. Poslední kapitola teoretické části je věnována osobnosti a vývoji jedince se sluchovým postižením a jeho rodině. V praktické části je zpracována kazuistika uživatelky kochleárního implantátu, doplněna o pohledy a postřehy samotné uživatelky, její matky, surdopedky ze speciálně pedagogického centra a spolupracujících logopedek.The aim of this diploma thesis was to describe a life with a cochlear implant. The theoretical part deals with hearing and hearing impairment, cochlear implant and the process of its implantation. Last chapter of the theoretical part concerns the personality and the development of an individual with a hearing impairment, and their family. In the practical part, a case history of a cochlear implant user is elaborated, complemented by the views and perceptions of the user, as well as those of her mother, a surdopedist at the Specialist Pedagogical Centre and the collaborating speech therapists.
