Tato diplomová práce se zabývá analýzou českých monoftongů a diftongů se zřetelem ke kvantitě. V této oblasti jsem analyzovala absolutní hodnoty i relativní poměry (např. krátké vs. dlouhé vokály) a prozkoumala faktory, které mohou vokalickou kvantitu ovlivnit (délka slova, pozice, přízvuk, hláskové okolí). Jako zdrojový materiál posloužily nahrávky hlasatelů Českého rozhlasu. Naměřené výsledky byly následně srovnány s tradičními i novými referenčními hodnotami pro trvání vokálů. Výsledky analýzy i komparace jsou okomentovány ve shrnutích dílčích částí výzkumu, veškeré poznatky vyplývající z této práce jsou uvedeny v závěru.This diploma thesis concerns with analysis of vowels of native speakers of standard Czech language with regard to vowel quantity. The subject was to analyze Czech monophtongs and diphtongs in the field of specific data as well as relative ratios (e. g. short vs. long vowels) and to examine some factors which may affect vocal quatity (word length, vowel position, word accent, phonetic environment). Theoretical part of the thesis focuses on general characteristic of vowel quantity, presents some moments from the oldest period of vocal length development, brings an example of what vocal quantity looks like in selected Slavic languages, shows potential possibilities of affenting vowel length and presents some researches that had been done in the past. Practical part of the thesis presents the fields of research, sources of recordings and methodology of the research. The analysis examines twenty Czech Radio broadcasters. Phonetic software Praat was used for measurement. Recorded values of vowel quantity analysis are examned from different compared with traditional and new reference values. The results of the partial research are commented on in the summaries and all the findings from this thesis are presented in the conclusion.
