Práce se zaměřuje na argument autoritou a na jeho nesprávné užití, označované jako argumentum ad verecundiam. Text je rozdělen na dvě části, přičemž první polovina ukazuje vývoj chápání autority v dějinách rétoriky a tím vývoj argumentace opřené o autoritu. Jednotlivé historické etapy jsou demonstrovány na vybraných dílech, které charakterizují svou dobu. V druhé části textu jsou poskytnuta kritéria pro rozlišení mezi správným a nesprávným užitím argumentu autoritou.This thesis focuses on the argument from authority and its incorrect use known as argumentum ad verecundiam. This work is split in two parts, where the first part llustrates the evolution of understanding of authority in the history of rhetoric thereby an evolution of an argument from authority.. Each historical period is demonstrated by a selected piece of work characteristic for the time period. The second part of this thesis provides criteria for distinguishing the correct and the incorrect use of the the argument from an authority.
