Diplomová práce se zabývá komparací příčin, průběhu a dopadů evropských referend ve Velké Británii. Práce analyzuje klíčové aspekty referend a zkoumá důvody, jež vedly premiéra Harold Wilsona a Davida Camerona v letech 1975 a 2016 k uspořádání referend o setrvání země v ES/EU. Dále se práce zabývá průběhem kampaní předcházejících referenda a postojem jednotlivých aktérů a rozebírá výsledky referend. Samotné jádro tkví v porovnání obou uskutečněných referend ve Velké Británii. Z metodologického hlediska je práce specifická a nachází se na pomezí komparativní případové studii a případové studie a zjišťuje do jaké míry teorie liberálního intergovernmentalismu dokáže interpretovat událost Brexitu.This Master's thesis deals with the comparison of the causes, course and impacts of European referendums in Great Britain. The paper analyzes the key aspects of the referendums and examines the reasons why Prime Minister Harold Wilson and David Cameron decided to hold referendums on EC/EU membership in 1975 and 2016. Furthermore, the thesis deals with the course of the campaigns preceding the referendums and the attitude of the main actors and discusses the results of the referendums. The very core of the analysis lies in the comparison of the two referendums in the UK. From the methodological point of view, the thesis is specific and is located on the border of a comparative case study and case study and try to find out to what extent the theory of liberal intergovernmentalism can interpret the Brexit.
