Rozdílné, geneticky vymezené velikosti genomů potvrdily existenci diploidních linií F. verna subsp. calthifolia, F. verna subsp. fertilis, F. verna subsp. ficaroides a tetraploidních linií F. verna subsp. chrysocephala, F. verna subsp. verna a pravděpodobně tetraploidní linie F. verna subsp. kochii. Zamítly existenci tetraploidní linie F. verna subsp. ficariiformis, patrně je součástí tetraploidní linie F. verna subsp. verna. Obsáhlou geografickou škálou u Ficaria verna subsp. calthifolia a Ficaria verna subsp. verna a existencí minoritních ploidních stupňů u studovaných taxonů byla potvrzena role polyploidizačních a hybridizačních procesů v evoluci rodu Ficaria. Velikost genomu byla pozitivně korelována s délkou průduchů, lze ji tedy využít jako znak pro klasifikaci ploidních stupňů.Ficaria is a common genus in Europe. It is a group of geophytes, which shows considerable diversity in morphology, reproduction systems, karyology and ecology. Taxonomic issues in the genus Ficaria remain unresolved yet, owing to the occurrence of the inter-species gene flow. Taxonomic studies of the genus Ficaria accepted in the contemporary literature, have tended to take morphological and geographic approaches. The taxonomic value of these approaches was evaluated by using cytometric (estimation of the total genome size) and morphometric (measure of stomata size) methods. Different, genetically-defined genome sizes have confirmed the existence of diploid lines of F. verna subsp. calthifolia, F. verna subsp. fertilis, F. verna subsp. ficaroides and tetraploid lines of F. verna subsp. chrysocephala, F. verna subsp. verna and propably tetraploid line of F. verna subsp. kochii. They rejected the existence of tetraploid line F. verna subsp. ficariiformis, which is probably part of tetraploid line F. verna subsp. verna. An extensive geographical range of F. verna subsp. calthifolia and F. verna subsp. verna, and the existence of minor ploidy levels in the taxa studied confirmed the role of polyploidisation and hybridisation processes in the evolution of the genus Ficaria. The size of the genome was positively correlated with the length of the stoma, so it is feasible to use it as a criterion for the classification of the ploidy levels.
