This bachelor thesis deals with Hungarian political system after 2010 when Viktor Orbán became the prime minister. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the position of the Hungarian political system on the basis of the theories of illiberal democracy and hybrid regimes and to expose at what phase it is nowadays and whether it fulfils the key elements of these theories. For this purpose it will use the theory of illiberal democracy by Fareed Zakaria and competitive authoritarianism by Steven Levitsky and Lucan A. Way, but also concepts of other scholars will be used. The methodology of the thesis is a case study in which at first the theoretical concept is defined. Then it illustrates the evolution of the political system in the context of its main changes and then the theory and reality are analysed. The results of the thesis showed that after 2010 Hungary fulfills the key elements of illiberal democracy and therefore can be classified in that way. The most significant moments were the reduction of the competences of the Constitutional court, the centralization of power under the Fidesz and the attack on the media independence, civil society and individual rights and freedoms. Hungary also partially fulfilled the theory of competitive authoritarianism and increasingly inclined towards this type of hybrid regime.
