Tato diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou překladu dětské literatury a aplikuje ji na překlad obrázkové knihy. První část práce komentuje vývoj teorie překladu dětské literatury a zaměřuje se na to, jaký vliv měla na tuto oblast obecná teorie překladu. V další části nabízí definici termínu obrázková kniha a zabývá se specifiky jejího překladu. Případová studie demonstruje na překladech obrázkových knih Where the Wild Things Are (Sendak 1984) a The Gruffalo (Donaldson 1999) překladatelsky obtížná místa a analyzuje, zda cílový text zachovává rým, synergický vztah mezi vizuální a verbální složkou a zaměřuje se na míru přizpůsobení textu potřebám cílového čtenáře. V závěru této práce jsou zjištěné výsledky okomentovány.This diploma thesis deals with problems of children's literature translation and focuses on translation of picture books. Firstly, it introduces the development of children's translation studies and concentrates on the influences from translation theory. Secondly, it introduces a functional definition of the term picture book and addresses the specifics of its translation. The case study demonstrates on examples of two picture books Where the Wild Things Are (Sendak 1984) and The Gruffalo (Donaldson 1999) the specific problems in translation of picture books. It analyzes the rhythm, synergic relationship between the visual and the verbal and the level of complexity of the target text.
