Práce představuje ucelený pohled na oblast bádání u možného kulturního chování šimpanze učenlivého. V textu se ukazuje problém konceptualizace definice kultury jako zásadní limit při zkoumání šimpanzího chování. Dále se text zabývá historií výzkumu otázky kulturního chování u zvířat a jeho kritickým hodnocením. V práci je zkoumána etnografie šimpanzů a její metody při získávání dat o behaviorálních procesech šimpanzů. Etnografie šimpanzů je zohledňována v kontextu antropologie, jako vědy která ji silně ovlivnila. Jsou kriticky analyzovány etnografické a laboratorní výzkumy o chování šimpanzů a jejich intepretace směřující ke kultuře. Charakter práce je teoretický, proto byla jako metoda zvolena komparace přístupů ke zkoumání kultury u šimpanzů a jejich kritické zhodnocení. Výsledkem práce jsou poznatky, které ukazují, že kultura u šimpanzů je tématem, díky kterému můžeme lépe pochopit evoluci člověka a jeho postavení v procesu biologické a kulturní evoluce.The thesis presents a comprehensive view of the field of research on the possible cultural behavior of the common chimpanzee. The text presents the problem of conceptualizing the definition of culture as a fundamental limit in the investigation of chimpanzee behavior. Furthermore, the text deals with the history of research into the issue of cultural behavior in animals and its critical assessment. The thesis explores the ethnography of chimpanzees and its methods in obtaining data on behavioral processes of chimpanzees. The ethnography of chimpanzees is taken into account in the context of anthropology, as a science that has strongly influenced it. Ethnographic and laboratory research on the behavior of chimpanzees and their culture-oriented intents are critically analyzed. Character of the thesis is theoretical, therefore it was chosen as a method of comparison of approaches to the investigation of the culture of chimpanzees and their critical evaluation. The result of the work is the knowledge that shows that the culture of chimpanzees is a topic that enables us to better understand the evolution of man and his position in the process of biological and cultural evolution
