Tato diplomová práce si klade za cíl seznámit čtenáře s pojmem "Islámský stát" a jeho reprezentací v amerických médiích, konkrétně v listech The New York Times a New York Post. Práce se zabývá vybranými články z období let 2014-2016. Zatímco první část práce cílí na hrozby, lákadla a jména spjatá s organizací "Islámský stát", část druhá se soustředí na tři konkrétní místa: Mosul, Rakku a Palmýru.The aim of this diploma thesis is to make the reader familiar with the concept of the Islamic State and to focus on its representation in the American media, namely in two daily newspapers the New York Times and New York Post. The thesis deals with selected articles within the period of years 2014-2016. While the first part concentrates on the threats, draws and names associated with the Islamic State, the second part zooms in on three concrete places: Mosul, Raqqa and Palmyra.
