Diplomová práce se zabývá fenoménem ekovesnic a jejich vztahu k udržitelnému způsobu života. Tento vztah je zkoumán na základě dimenzí udržitelnosti Globální sítě ekovesnic GEN. Organizace GEN vznikla v roce 1995 a klade si za cíl podporu komunit během jejich transformace na ekovesnice. Dimenze stanovené GEN se momentálně skládají ze čtyř základních částí, a to ze sociální, kulturní, ekologické a ekonomické dimenze udržitelnosti. Teoretická část práce je zaměřena na charakteristiku ekovesnic, jejich vývoj a směřování. Dále se zabývá Globální sítí ekovesnic GEN, jejímu vztahu k ekovesnicím v podobě historie vzniku, cílům, programu a aktivitám směřujícím k udržitelnosti. Naplňování dimenzí ekovesnicemi je analyzováno za pomoci dvou případových studií ekovesnic Huehuecoyotl v Mexiku a Zaježky na Slovensku. K analýze jsou využívány kvalitativní metody výzkumu. Kvalitativní výzkum probíhal prostřednictvím rozhovorů, pozorování a sběru sekundárních dat. Vybraní respondenti v rozhovorech uvádí, jakým způsobem jsou naplňovány konkrétní dimenze udržitelnosti v jejich komunitě. Zde obyvatelé ekovesnic uvádí dobré praktiky udržitelnosti, ale také nedostatky a překážky, které jim v naplňování brání.The diploma thesis deals with the phenomen of ecovillages and their relation to a sustainable way of life. This relationship is investigated on the basis of the sustainability dimensions of the Global Ecovillage Network GEN. GEN was founded in 1995 and aims to support communities during their transformation into ecovillages. Dimensions established by GEN are currently made up of four cornerstones, namely the social, cultural, environmental and economic dimensions of sustainability. The theoretical part of the thesis is focused on the characteristics of ecovillages nad their development. It also deals with the Global Ecovillage Network GEN, its relationship to ecovillages in the form of the history of the origins, the objectives, the program, activities towards sustainability and characteristics of sustainable dimensions. Fulfilling the dimensions of ecovillages is analyzed using two case studies of ecovillages Huehuecoyotl in Mexico and Zaježka in Slovakia. The qualitative methods of research are used for the analysis. The qualitative research was conducted through interviews, observation and collection of secondary data. Selected respondants in the interviews indicate how the specific dimensions of sustainability in their community are being met. Here, residents of ecovillages present good practices of sustainability, but also weaknesses and barriers to their successful implementation.
