O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar a obra O centauro no jardim (1980), do escritor brasileiro Moacyr Scliar, o romance escolhido pelo Yiddish Book Center como um dos 100 melhores livros com a temática judaica. O trabalho concentra-se na análise do comportamento do personagem principal e nas razoes que o levam a uma crise existencial. Além disso, explica o contexto histórico, cultural e religioso necessário para o entendimento e a subsequente interpretaçao do romance.This work aims to analyze a novel O Centauro no jardim (1980) by the Brazilian writer Moacyr Scliar which was chosen by the Yiddish Book Center as one of 100 best novels with Jewish theme. The work focuses on the analysis of behavior of the main character and the reasons which lead to an existential crisis. Moreover, it explains the historical, cultural and religious context necessary for the understanding and subsequent interpretation of the novel.
