Konstrukce stejnopohlavních párů v seriálech Modern Family a The New Normal
Title statement Konstrukce stejnopohlavních párů v seriálech Modern Family a The New Normal [rukopis] / Barbora Kalousková Additional Variant Titles Práce se zaměří na analýzu toho, jakým způsobem jsou v seriálech The Modern Family a The New Normal, ve kterých se vyskytují stejnopohlavní páry, tyto páry konstruovány, a jak jsou zde "normalizovány" - tedy zda se objevuje nějaký společný normalizační rámec, podle kterého se budou postavy chovat, vypadat a podobně, aby působily co nejvíc "normálně" - heteronormativně. Dále práce bude zkoumat, zda se v seriálech objevuje jev "anxious displacement" konkrétně "queer displacement", tedy jakési přesunutí určitých "nenormálních" vlastností a charakteristik, které mohou být vnímány ve společnosti negativně, na postavy, které se objevují ve vedlejších rolích v těsné blízkosti stejnopohlavních představitelů, a tím tyto hlavní postavy "normalizuje" a ukazuje v lepším světle Personal name Kalousková, Barbora (dissertant) Translated title This thesis will analyze the way in which same-sex couples are conceived in TV series The Modern Family and The New Normal. Also, it will explore the manners in which these pairs are "normalized"; whether the characters act or look according to some sort of a common framework in order to appear "normal" or heteronormative. Furthermore, this thesis will examine whether "anxious displacement" or more specifically "queer displacement" appears in these series. Queer displacement is a phenomenon where certain characteristics usually perceived as negative are given to supporting characters to enforce the "normality" of the main same-sex protagonists and to portray them in a better light Issue data 2017 Phys.des. 112 s. Non-heterosexual characters have never had a particularly easy status in audiovisual works and depicting them as "average" members of society or placing them in a parental role is a rather recent phenomenon. This thesis explores whether and how this process of "normalisation" occurs in the Modern Family and The New Normal TV series, where characters like this are at the forefront of the plot. The result is a description of this process of "normalisation" in the aforementioned series. In order to get to it, this thesis uses a qualitative method of interpretative reading, that allows a deep examination of the texts. As a whole, this thesis is based on the theories of social and media construction of reality and therefore emphasizes the potential normative qualities of TV broadcasting.
