Tato práce se zabývá vztahem vegetariánství v rámci křesťanské církve, konkrétně Církve adventistů sedmého dne. Cílem této bakalářské práce je zjištění motivů, díky kterým si členové zmíněné církve volí vegetariánství. Teoretická část je zaměřena na problematiku vegetariánství v křesťanství. V teoretické části se nejprve v první kapitole pro lepší pochopení významu jídla zabývám sociologií jídla, která poukazuje na nejen symbolickou funkci jídla. Druhá kapitola je věnována vegetariánství obecně. Třetí kapitola popisuje sociální aspekty vegetariánství, díky kterým se jedinci rozhodují pro vegetariánství. Poslední čtvrtá kapitola teoretické části popisuje vegetariánství v rámci křesťanství. Pro zjištění motivů členů Církve adventistů sedmého byl v praktické části práce zvolen kvalitativní výzkum. Tímto výzkumem bylo zjištěno, že členové Církve adventistů sedmého dne si volí tento vegetariánský způsob primárně ze zdravotních důvodů.This thesis deals with relation between vegetarianism and christianity, especially in Seven-Days Adventist church. The aim of this work is to determine the motives that make the members of that church chooses vegetarianism. The theoretical part is focused on vegetarianism in Christianity. At first in the first chapter in theoretical part I deal with the sociology of food, which highlights not only the symbolic function of food because of better understanding. The second chapter is devoted to vegetarianism in general. The third chapter describes social aspects of vegetarianism, through which individuals decide to vegetarianism. The fourth last chapter of theoretical part of thesis describes vegetarianism within Christianity. To determine the motives of members of the Adventist Church in the practical part was choosen Qualitative Research. In this research, it was found that members of the Seventh Day Adventist Church choose vegetarianism primarily for a health reasons.
