Práce podává syntetickou analýzu osobnosti a díla Karla Weignera (1874 1937). Hlavním cílem dizertační práce je rekonstrukce života Karla Weignera se zvláštním zřetelem na léta před první světovou válkou a meziválečné období v kontextu celospolečenských reformních a reformně pedagogických tendencí v domácím i zahraničním prostředí. V práci jsou využity metody pedagogicko-historického výzkumu (diachronní přístup, progresivní a komparativní metoda). V jednotlivých kapitolách disertační práce je akcentován Weignerův pedagogický přínos na základě postu spoluzakladatele české tělovýchovné vědy a jeho pedagogické a organizační činnosti v Kurzu pro kandidáty učitelství tělesné výchovy na středních školách Univerzity Karlovy a ředitele Státních kurzů tělovýchovných. Je provedena komparace těchto kurzů dle stanovených kritérií. V práci je popsán vývoj tělesné výchovy od konce 19. století do začátku druhé světové války se zvláštním akcentem na význam tělesné výchovy v rámci národní emancipace. Pozornost je dále věnována Weignerovu přínosu k inovaci osnov školní tělesné výchovy na základě komparace osnov A. Spiesse, Weignerova Návrhu České obce sokolské na úpravu tělesné výchovy v Republice československé z roku 1919 a následných osnov z 20. a 30. let 20. století. Zásluhy Karla Weignera ve výše jmenovaných oblastech jsou interpretovány v rámci celospolečenského kontextu se zvláštním zřetelem na pedagogické prostředí.Thesis presents synthetic analysis of personality and work of Karel Weigner (1874-1937). The main aim is to reconstruct the life of Karel Weigner with special reference to the years before the First World War and the interwar period in the context of societal reform and reforms of educational trends in the domestic and international environment. There are used methods of historical research (diachronic approach, progressive and comparative methods). Each chapter is addressed to Weigner educational benefits as the co-founder of the Czech physical education science and his pedagogical and organizational activities in courses for candidates for teaching the physical education at secondary schools at Charles University and as the director of the State Physical Educational Courses. These courses were compared according to the established criteria. The work describes development of physical education from late 19th century to the beginning of World War II, with the special emphasis on the importance of physical education as part of the national emancipation. Attention is also paid to Weigner's contribution to the curriculum innovations of the school physical education based on the curriculum comparison from A. Spiess, Weigner's Proposal for the Czech Sokol Community to recreate physical education in the Republic of Czechoslovakia from 1919 and follow-up curriculum of the 20s and 30s of the 20th century. Karel Weigner's merit in the above mentioned areas is interpreted within the context of the entire society with special focus to the educational environment.
