This bachelor's thesis describes the effect of footwear on human's foot and locomotion. In the theoretical part are presented information about anatomy and kinesiology of the foot and also walking and running biomechanics. Into the theoretical part a chapter about the influence of wearing high heeled shoes, conventional running shoes and minimalist shoes was also included. The aim of the thesis is to summarise existing research data, comparing minimalist and conventional running shoes effects on gait and running kinematics. Based of the discuss findings, there are possibilities of using minimalist shoes as a training and preventive and rehabilitative treatment.
