Diplomová práce se zabývá oblastí počítačových her a analýzou míry a způsobu využívání počítačových her u žáků 3. ročníků různých typů středních škol. Teoretická část se zaměřuje na stěžejní témata z oblasti počítačových her, konkrétně definování počítačových her, základní elementy počítačových her, jejich historií, dělení počítačových her podle různých kritérií, současné tendence v oblasti počítačových her (rozvoj technologií, ovládacího rozhraní, virtuální a rozšířené reality, vývoj her ověřených značek a snižování diverzity aj.). Diplomová práce vznikla za podpory projektu IGA_PdF_2016_028 "Identifikace rizik sociálních sítí a počítačových her u žáků v závislosti na jejich preferovaném způsobu využití informačních a komunikačních technologií".The diploma thesis deals with the area of computer games and the analysis of the extent and ways of their employment among pupils of 3rd grade of various types of secondary schools. The theoretical part deals with main topics from the area of computer games, e.g. the definition of computer games, their basic elements and history, the classification of computer games (according to various criteria), or contemporary tendencies in the delimited area (development of technologies, control interface, concept of virtual and extended reality, development of games by verified publishers, lowering of the diversity, etc.). The last part of the theoretical thesis describes the possible positive and negative impact of computer games on an individual. The practical part deals with the analysis of the extent and ways of their employment among pupils of 3rd grade of various types of secondary schools in regions of the Czech Republic (Olomouc, Zlín, Moravian-Silesian, South Moravian, and Pardubice regions). The quantitative research was selected as a research strategy while it was realized via questionnaire (a questionnaire focusing on the addictive behaviour was created while some other intervening variables were included as well) and twenty two secondary schools of various types participated in this research. The research sample consisted of 1,393 respondents in total. The four hypotheses were set as well as eighteen research assumptions while they were evaluated in the practical part. The author discovered that the time spent by playing computer games differs among various groups of pupils of the 3rd grade based on the secondary school they are attending (general upper secondary schools, secondary vocational schools with Maturita certificate, and secondary vocational schools and secondary technical schools without Maturita certificate). Additionally, we discovered that the time spent by playing computer games is the same among pupils of the 3rd grade of secondary school regardless the place they are living in (either a city or a village); we also evaluated the statistically significant differences in the time spend by playing computer games among boys and girls of the 3rd grade of secondary schools the boys of our research sample are used to play computer games for a much longer time period. The diploma thesis was supported by project IGA_PdF_2016_028 "Identification of risks of social networks and computer games for children depending on their preferred use of information and communication technologies".
