Tato bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na hlavní hrdinky románů Mansfieldské panství od Jane Austenové a Jana Eyrová od Charlotte Brontëové. Na začátku práce se krátce zabývám životy obou autorek a jejich historickým pozadím, přičemž se soustředím na společenské podmínky žen v Britské společnosti na konci osmnáctého a začátku devatenácté století. Poté následuje analýza obou románů, která se zaměřuje na hlavní hrdinky Janu Eyrovou a Fanny Priceovou. Hlavním cílem této práce je prozkoumat archetyp chudobné mladé ženy, která je schopná si zajistit lepší pozici ve společnosti a slušné životní podmínky pouze sňatkem s bohatším a výše postaveném mužem.The aim of this bachelor thesis is to compare and contrast the main characters of the novels Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë and Mansfield Park by Jane Austen. The thesis will provide a brief résumé of the lives of both authors, their historical background focusing on the social terms of women in their eras, the literary analyses of both novels and primarily analyses of chief figures. The main objective of this thesis is to explore an archetype of a destitute young woman marrying an affluent man as the only way to gain a higher social status in the Regency and Victorian eras.
