Práce si klade za cíl ověřit platnost Menzerath-Altmannova zákona na třech japonsky psaných textech: povídce, básni a vysokoškolské seminární práci. Segmentace textů byla provedena na grafickém principu s jazykovými jednotkami vytvořenými výhradně pro účely segmentace japonského textu a zčásti vycházela z pilotního výzkumu z let 2014-2015. V úvodní kapitole je stručně představen obor kvantitativní lingvistiky, Menzerath-Altmannův zákon a charakteristika a specifika japonského písma. V kapitole druhé je popsána užitá metodika a způsob segmentace textů. Ve třetí kapitole jsou uvedeny hypotézy a v kapitole čtvrté samotné výsledky analýz a jejich interpretace. Poslední pátou kapitolu tvoří závěry pro jednotlivé analyzované texty.The objective of this thesis was to verify the validity of the Menzerath-Altmann law applied to written texts in the Japanese language. The analysed sample texts were a short story, a poem, and a seminar paper. The methodology used in this analysis was partially based on a previous pilot study project from 2014-2015. The results of the short story analysis matched the results of the previous pilot study. The results of the poem analysis are conflicting; while the Menzerath-Altmann law has been proven valid for half of the language levels, it hasn't been so for the other half. However, these results may signify that the hypothesis that graphical text constrictions have a significant effect on the manifestation of the law might be true. As for the seminar paper, the Menzerath-Altmann law has been clearly manifested on only one of the four language levels. An additional experiment with different language units was conducted too, with negative results. However, as this is one of the very first studies of Japanese texts in relation to the Menzerath-Altmann law, it should be noted that it is necessary to analyse more texts before a generalised conclusion can be drawn.
