This bachelor's thesis presents the one sided written communication of Jan Zahradníček addressed to Timotheus Vodička which was conducted between the years 19351942. The personal correspondence was focused primarilyon editorial communication because Jan Zahradníček was an editor of the literary monthly magazine Akord in Brno (1940-1944, 1945-1948) in the time of the correspondence respectively between the years 19401942. The addressee was a friend and an active co-worker of Zahradníček in the Akord. The relationship between Zahradníček and Vodička was also defined by several work relations. Vodička collaborated with the Akord and Zahradníček collaborated with the periodically published yearbook the Praporec in which Vodička was an editor during his stay in Břevnov Monastery (1937-1941). This mutual cooperation was validated by a verbal agreement which mentioned mutual provision of literary contributions to both journals during the existential threat to the journal. Vodička was contributing mainly to the Akordin the years 1941 and 1942; he published there a large number of his papers essays and reviews of books. He was also an instigator of many polemic discussions in literary journals. The presented correspondence contains references to the two of the polemics. After Vodička left Břevnov and moved to Olomouc, the work relation between the writer and the addressee was built because Vodička took the editor post in publishing company Velehrad in Olomouc. Zahradníček was approached to work on redaction of one of the publishing company's edition Collection of Selected Reading (Knižnice vybrané četby). However, after unfriendly actions on the part of the publishing company Velehrad, he terminated the employment in 1942. In 1942 the correspondence of Zahradníček also ended but it is obvious that part of the correspondence was not preserved because of the unresolved topic of one of the polemics that remained in the last letter about the book written by František Chudoba. Therefore, the missing explanation of the polemics is completed in this bachelor's thesis.
