Zaznamenávané boli stopové dráhy vybraných druhov zveri ako jeleň lesný (Cervus elaphus), srnec lesný (Capreolus capreolus) a diviak lesný (Sus scrofa) v rôznych kategóriách. Následne boli zozbierané dáta vkladané do záznamu s priradením špecifických hodnôt v rôznych kategóriách. The growth in the number of global population in recent years has been mirroring in the increase in the fragmentation of countryside. This represents one of the fundamental problems for the free movement of animals. Most of the migrating species are forced to cross various kinds of obstacles. The work deals with animal behavioural patterns in linear barrier crossing. Focusing on the analysis of the ways the animals choose when crossing the roads, the work also compares the preference in relation to the species. The research took place in the north-western Slovakia on the road 1/10 connecting Slovakia with the Czech Republic. The recorded footprint tracks of chosen species included those of red deer (Cervus elaphus), deer (Capreolus capreolus) and wild boar (Sus scrofa) in various categories. Subsequently the collected data were put in the record with assigning the specific values in various categories. The red deer and the wild boar were crossing the road in the sections with sparse forest cover on both sides or in the sections with forest and sparse forest cover. As a rule, they avoided the sections with forest/forest or forest/deforested area. Deer preferred crossing the roads in the sections with forest/sparse forest cover or forest/deforested area. Deer also crossed the road in the forest/forest sections. Red deer and wild boar recorded high success rate in the sections without roadside safety barriers. As for deer, numerous attempts were recorded to cross the road in the section with roadside safety barriers on one or both sides of the road, however, there were many failed attempts with this type of layout. As far as the overall number of attempts is concerned, the most successful species was wild boar and the least successful one was deer. As to the reference areas, the presence of all three species has been recorded. The radar measuring the frequency of traffic recorded the arithmetic mean representing 4,568 vehicles per day. The suitable time for animals to try to cross the road is at night. The ratio of the number of successful attempts to cross the road on the reference areas and the failed ones has shown that the road for motor vehicles represents a barrier that makes the movement of animals complicated.
