Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou jazzových standardů - jejich vznikem, vývojem a proměnami v repertoárech jazzových muzikantů. Tento vývoj je ukázán na skladbě 'Round Midnight, napsané Theloniem Monkem. První kapitola shromažďuje dostupnou literaturu o Theloniu Monkovi a samotné skladbě. V druhé kapitole stručně představuji charakteristické rysy života a díla Thelonia Monka, vznik skladby 'Round Midnight a její první nahrávky. Důležitou součástí kapitoly je analýza skladby a její proměny v díle Thelonia Monka. Jádrem práce je poslední kapitola, přinášející seznam nahrávek jazzových muzikantů, na nichž se 'Round Midnight objevuje. Přináším souhrnný komentář k těmto nahrávkám a detailně se věnuji pěti vybraným interpretacím skladby, které analyzuji a porovnávám. Okrajově zmiňuji i využití skladby mimo oblast jazzu.The Bachelor thesis deals with problems of jazz standards: their origin, development and changes in jazz musician repertoires. The development is demonstrated on composition 'Round Midnight´ by Thelonius Monk. The first chapter summarizes the available reference literature about Thelonius Monk and the composition itself. The second chapter briefly introduces the characteristic features of Thelonius Monk´s life and work, the origin of 'Round Midnight´ and its first recordings. An important part of this chapter is an analysis of the composition and its alterations in the works by Thelonius Monk. The core of the thesis is chapter three which presents the list of jazz musicians recordings in which 'Round Midnight´ appears. The author brings a summarized comment to the recordings, a detailed analysis and comparison of the five selected interpretations of the composition. The use of the composition outside the field of jazz music is also briefly mentioned.
