Zelená revoluce je proces zemědělské transformace, který započal uprostřed 20. století v Mexiku a znamenal bezprecedentní nárůst hektarových výnosů v rostlinném zemědělství díky využití nově vyšlechtěných druhů rostlin, intenzivního využití hnojiv, pesticidů a závlah. Vstupy do průmyslového zemědělství tvořily a tvoří základ Zelené revoluce. The Green Revolution is a process of agricultural transformation that began in the middle of the 20th century in Mexico and marked an unprecedented growth of the yields in vegetable farming through the use of newly bred species of plants, intensive use of fertilizers, pesticides and irrigation. Inputs to industrial agriculture have forms the basis of the Green Revolution. This study aims to evaluate the possibility of introducing the Green Revolution in vegetable farming in sub Saharan Africa from the perspective of these inputs. The local agriculture is not very efficient and none of the previous attempts at agricultural transformation brought the desired effect. It is still necessary to import some cereals, and there is also a widespread problem of malnutrition. If, however, we learn from the mistakes that were in the shift of the Green Revolution made earlier, it will possibly be applicable here. On the other hand, I have doubts about its actual benefits for sub-Saharan Africa. From an environmental point of view it raises many questions, and especially for the poorest part of the population it rather represents a risk, as it may worsen position of small-scale farmers on the market.
