Migranti v procesu akulturace volí mezi čtyřmi strategiemi: integrací, asimilací, separací nebo marginalizací, které mohou být uplatněny pouze v případě, že jsou kompatibilní s akulturační orientací přijímající společnosti: multikulturalismem, tzv. tavícím kotlíkem/papiňákem, segregací a exluzí. Jako nejlepší strategie migrantů se jeví integrace, a to v případě, že je možné ji v dané většinové společnosti uplatnit. To lze jen v případě multikulturních společnosti, které nelze zaměňovat s kulturně-plurálními společnostmi. Akulturace má vliv na duševní zdraví migrantů i život společností, ve kterých žijí. Cílem této práce je odhalení faktorů, které se podílejí na průběhu akulturace a jejím výsledku a tím i zjištění, zda je tyto faktory možné ovlivňovat. Práce by měla zároveň odpovědět na otázku, zda by takové ovlivňování bylo někomu prospěšné.Acculturation is a process arising when two or more cultures come into contact and its outcome is adaptation. Migrants choose one of four acculturation strategies: integration, assimilation, separation or marginalisation that can be applied only when it is compatible with corresponding acculturation orientation of the dominant society: multiculturalism, melting pot/pressure cooker, segregation or exclusion. Integration if allowed to use by the dominant society is considered to be the best migrant´s strategy. It can be used only in multicultural societies which are not to be confused with culturally plural societies. Acculturation affects mental health of migrants as well as the life of the dominant societies in which the migrants live. The purpose of this thesis is to reveal the factors that are affecting the process of acculturation and its outcomes and by its means if it is possible to influence those contributing factors. The thesis should also answer a question if such influence would be anyhow beneficial.
