Cílem práce je zmapovat, jakým způsobem je reprezentován ďábel ve vybraných spisech předbělohorské moralizující literatury. Teoretická část se věnuje charakteristice literárněhistorického kontextu předbělohorské doby a postavě ďábla obecně. V analytické části jsme na základě studia literatury vytvořili typologii ďáblů, která se zaměřuje na nejčastější podoby, v nichž je ďábel autory představován, a na funkce, jaké postavy ďábla v textu plní. Různé typy ďáblů, které jsme v práci stanovili, jsou vyčleněny pod následující označení: ďáblové ve větším počtu; ďábel a jeho rodina; ďábel v jiných podobách; "lidový" ďábel; ďábel jako svůdce prvních lidí; ďábel jako nástroj boží vůle a ďábel, který posedá člověka. V závěru práce shrnujeme dosažené poznatky z předchozích kapitol a zhodnocujeme otázku výskytu a funkce postavy ďábla v textech předbělohorské moralizující literatury.In our thesis, we examine the representation of the Devil in the moralizing treatises published before the Battle of White Mountain. The introductory part focuses on the historical and literary context of the given era and on the Devil as a character in general. In the analytic part, we introduce the typology of the Devils designed according to the most frequented representations of his character in the selected moralizing treatises. They are presented and discussed under the following terms: a group of Devils; the Devil and his family; the Devil in his other forms; the Devil in popular culture; the Devil tempting Adam and Eve; the Devil as an administrator of God's will and, finally, the Devil possessing people. In the end, we compare the frequencies of all the types of the Devil and sum up what the functions of the Devil characters in the moralizing treatises are.
