Tato diplomová práce se zabývá filmovými a televizními adaptacemi, které vznikly z knih britského spisovatele Neila Gaimana. Cílem práce je analyzovat autorské prvky využité Gaimanem a filmaři pro přiřazení k fantasy žánru. Rámcovým metodologickým východiskem se stal sémanticko-syntaktický přístup Ricka Altmana, rozšířený o poznatky ohledně analýzy fantasy prvků od Katherine A. Fowkes. Pozornost je kladena i na samotný adaptační proces, tak, jak jej vnímá Linda Hutcheon. V diplomové práci se nacházejí analýzy tří Gaimanových knih a jejich filmových či televizních adaptací - Nikdykde, Koralina, Hvězdný prach. Závěr práce shrnuje výsledky těchto analýz a zaměřuje se na prvky, které v dílech procházejí největšími a nejmenšími proměnami.The master thesis pursues film and television adaptations of works written by the British author Neil Gaiman. The aim of this thesis is to analyse authorial elements utilized by Gaiman and the filmmakers in order for the works to be assigned to the fantasy genre. The semantically-syntactic approach of Rick Altman was employed as the methodological basis, extended by the findings on fantasy elements analysis by Katherine A. Fowkes. Moreover, the adaptation process itself, as perceived by Linda Hutcheon, is also emphasized. The thesis incorporates three analyses of Gaiman's novels and their film or television adaptations Neverwhere, Coraline and Stardust. The final part of the thesis summarizes the outcomes of the analyses focusing on elements undergoing the biggest and smallest transformations.
