Magisterská diplomová práce se věnuje kultu boha Marta v antickém Římě. Mars byl válečným bohem a jedním z nejvýznamnějších a nejvíce uctívaných bohů římského panteonu. Byl otcem Romula a Rema, legendárních zakladatelů Říma, proto jej také Římané považovali za svého otce a ochránce města. Diplomová práce se snaží objasnit rozdíly mezi římským konceptem Marta řeckým konceptem Area. Práce se zabývá náboženskými představami Římanů o Martovi a snaží se přiblížit teorie novodobých badatelů o původní funkci tohoto boha. Práce představí vývoj Martova kultu a problematiku Martových kněží, Martových svátků a Martových kultovních míst. V neposlední řadě se práce věnuje také kultu vítězství v Římě.The thesis aims to examine the cult of Mars in ancient Rome. Mars was the god of war and one of the most prominent and worshipped Roman deities. Mars was the father of Romulus and Remus, legendary founders of Rome. Therefore he was believed to be the father of the Roman people and the protector of Rome. The thesis explains the difference between Roman Mars and his Greek counterpart Ares. The thesis deals with religious ideas of the Romans regarding Mars and explains theories of his original character. Furthermore, it focuses on the development of the cult of Mars and explores Mars's festivals, priests, sanctuaries and cult places. In addition, the thesis deals with the cult of victory in Rome.
