V bakalářské práci se budu zabývat zobrazováním cirkusu v americké němé kinematografii 20. let se zaměřením na celovečerní filmy. Hlavním cílem této práce je pojednání o těchto dvou médiích, jejich prolínavost a komparace, a zároveň uvedení do dobového kontextu. Práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních kapitol, ve kterých se budu zamýšlet nad vybranými aspekty korelace. Hlavním zdrojem mi budou poznatky získané prostřednictvím vybraných filmů, na kterých se pokusím poukázat šířku pole jejich záběru cirkusové topoi. Zda z nich jsme schopni určit jakým způsobem probíhala cirkusová vystoupení, co přesně bylo jejich součástí, tedy alespoň částí ve filmu zobrazených. Nezbytnou součástí této práce je také rešerši v dobovém periodiku, které pojednává o tehdejším chápání filmu s tímto tématem, a především uvádí do chybějícího kontextu.This thesis focuses on displaying the circus in American Silent era of the twenties, especially in feature films. The main aim of this work is to discuss these two media, their interrelation and comparison, while putting into historical context. The thesis is divided into three main chapters which will reflect selected aspects of correlation. The main source will be the knowledge generated by the selected films in which I will point out the width of view of the circus topoi. The ability to determine the manner of circus spectacles, what was their part precisely, at least in the part of film displayed. Essential part of this work is the research in contemporary journal which deals with understanding of what was then a movie with this theme and discusses the context.
