Tato práce pojednává o vzniku hudebního žánru soul od jeho prvopočátků, přes evoluci ve funk, až po to, jak soul ovlivnil současnou hudbu. Popsán je žánr po hudební stránce, co nejvíce ovlivnilo jeho vznik a také tvorba nejvýraznějších soulových interpretů a společností Motown, Stax a Atlantic. Jedna kapitola je věnována hnutí za práva afroameričanů a vlivu tohoto hnutí na soulovou hudbu.The main aim of the thesis is to provide a look at the development of soul music from its origins through the evolution into funk until its influence on modern music. It describes the style of the genre, how it was created and what were the largest influences as well as the productions of the most prominent soul artists and labels Motown, Stax and Atlantic. One chapter is dedicated to the role of civil rights movement in soul music.
