Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tématem dosahování Rozvojových cílů tisíciletí se zvláštním zřetelem k prvnímu cíli, redukci chudoby a hladu. Práce je rozdělena do dvou částí, z nichž v první teoretické části je rozpracován koncept Rozvojových cílů tisíciletí, a dále témata chudoby, nerovnosti a rozvoje. Praktická část představuje promítnutí zmíněného konceptu na příkladu případové studie Nigérie.The diploma thesis deals with the issue of achieving the Millennium Development Goals with the special attention to the first goal, poverty and hunger eradication. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first theoretical part describes the Millennium Development Goals concept, the issues of poverty, inequality and development as well. The second part is represented by the illustration of the mentioned concept on the example of the case study of Nigeria.
