Předmětem této práce je zmapování architektonické podoby pražských mostů postavených mezi lety 1800-1950. Kromě stručné historie těchto staveb a vývoje technických parametrů v celosvětovém kontextu, se pokusím také zaměřit na jejich estetickou a uměleckou hodnotu, která bývá často opomíjena. Další důležitou částí textu je popis postupné změny přístupu architektů a inženýrů k mostům a jejich úvah nad tektonikou těchto staveb, tedy vztahem mezi zvoleným materiálem či konstrukcí a finální podobu mostu s ohledem na dobový technologický vývoj. Důraz bude také kladen na principy ovlivňující příznivý vzhled mostů a na jejich urbanistické řešení v městské krajině.The subject of this thesis is to explore an architectural form of Prague bridges built between the years 1800-1950. In addition to a brief history of these buildings and the development of technical parameters in a global context, I?ll try to focus also on their aesthetic and artistic value, which is often neglected. Another important part of my text is the gradual change of attitude of architects and engineers to bridges and their reflections about the tectonics of these buildings, the relationship between the chosen material or construction and the final form of the bridge with regard to contemporary technological development. Emphasis will be placed also on the principles influencing favourable appereance of bridges and on their and urban solution in the urban landscape.
