Práce pojednává o historickém vývoji vztahu mezi člověkem a konopím s důrazem na společenskou situaci ve Spojených státech amerických především ve dvacátém století. Rozbor této problematiky je postaven na kritickém zpracování rozsáhlého množství primárních i sekundárních pramenů v oblasti státní i federální legislativy, ekonomiky, drogové politiky a zdravotnictví. Na základě této mezioborové analýzy je na závěr detailně popsána současná společenská situace.The thesis deals with a historical development of the relationship between man and cannabis with the emphasis on the United States of America throughout the 20th century. The analysis of this issue consists of presentation and discussion of vast amount of primary and secondary sources in the fields of federal and state legislature, economy and drug policies. The main body of this work exposes certain historical facts and supposed truths in these areas and keeps challenging and disproving them. In the conclusion, there is an analysis of the current situation in the United States with regard to the significant changes in the year 2012.
