The main topic of this thesis is the issue of executive functions in relation to the Parkinson's disease. The theoretical section includes facts about a brain morphology, particularly about the frontal lobes. Question of the frontal lobes is specified on the area of the prefrontal cortex and its relation to the executive functions. There is a general description of dementia, Parkinson's disease, and neurodegenerative diseases included as well. The aim of the experimental part is to verify the reliability of the Tower of Hanoi test (ToH) by a test-retest method. The research sample consists of 30 subjects. The criteria for selection are diagnosis of the Parkinson's disease, lack of heavy cognitive deficits, and depression. The sample was obtained using an opportunistic selection. Firstly, patients were tested with a whole test battery-MMSE, ROCF, KAI, VFT, ToH, BDI-II, and HADS. Secondly, they were tested with ToH and MMSE, BDI-II and HADS, only as a method for assessing these criteria. In all three versions of the TOH, a statistically significant relationship between the first and the second testing, both in terms of time, number of movements, perseveration, and breaking the rules, was confirmed. The work was supported by the grant (no FF_2011_14) called Tower of Hanoi Test and new standards for efficient diagnosis of executive functions.
