Práce se zabývá šamanistickými praktikami a technikami extáze, užívanými v šintoismu, a jejich charakteristickými prvky. Dále si všímá ke kulturní výměny s etniky střední a severní Asie, etnikem Ainu a sibiřskými etniky. Zaměřuje se na šamanismus v uvedených oblastech v obecném měřítku a porovnává jej s tradicí extáze v japonském náboženství. Podrobněji zkoumá, jak se japonská extatická praxe opírá o šintoistickou mytologii a pojetí nadpřirozených sil. Také se zabývá jednotlivými kategoriemi duchovních, využívajících extázi, a jejich společenským postavením. Cílem je srovnat šamanismus v Japonsku se šamanismem rozšířeným na asijském kontinentě a tak specifikovat principy typické pro japonské náboženské myšlení. Těmi se ukázaly být především důraz na pasivní extázi a práce šamanů ve skupinách.This thesis is concerned with the shamanistic and ecstatic practices which are found in Shintoism and on their characteristics considering the cultural exchange between Japan and the ethnic groups living in Central and North Asia, Siberia and the Ainu. The thesis treats the shamanism of this area on a larger scale and compares it to the tradition of ecstasy as it figures in the Japanese religion. It investigates the mythological roots of the Japanese ecstatic practice in more detailed manner. It is also concerned with the different categories of the Japanese performers of the ecstasy and with their social status. The aim is to compare the Japanese shamanism with the shamanism widespread on the Asian continent and thus to specify the principles typical in the Japanese religion which seem to be the group cooperation of the ?shamans? and the passive form of possession.
