Z hlediska ochrany přírody v krasovém území je vhodné zkoumat ekologii a distribuci jeskynní fauny, neboť jde o společenstvo citlivé ke změnám prostředí a tedy vhodnou indikační skupinu. Dále byli odchyceni zástupci brouků, dvoukřídlých, roztočů, mnohonožek, pavouků, stonožek a dalších taxonů. Dlouhodobý výzkum pomohl odhalit nedostatky některých pastí a přinesl poznatky, jež je možno dále využít k efektivnějšímu odchytu terestrických bezobratlých v jeskynním prostředí.Researching the ecology and distribution of cave fauna is useful for nature conservation in karst regions, since the cave communities are sensitive and therefore suitable for environment change indication. Being little affected by human activities, the Býčí skála cave is one of the most important sites of the Moravian Karst, the largest karst area in the Czech Republic. This study presents the first-ever full-scale survey of terrestrial invertebrates in this cave. The aim was to evaluate the distribution of individual groups of animals in relation to various factors of the cave environment and to assess the effectiveness of different types of traps to collect invertebrates in the cave. Pitfall traps filled with ethanol, formaldehyde and mixture of ethylene glycol and beer were used for trapping the animals. The traps were placed at the site from November 2010 to March 2012. A total of 55 pitfall traps were deployed at 17 spots up to 2 km from the entrance to the cave. By the end of the period, over 19,000 animals had been trapped two thirds of which were Collembola. In addition, representatives of beetles, wing, mites, milipedes, spiders, centipedes and others were caught. The trappings of individual groups of animals in traps with various fillings were evaluated by means of canonical correspondence analysis (CCA). The study showed the most suitable period for researching the invertebrates in the cave is from June to October. The long-term research has revealed some shortcomings of specific trap types and provided findings that can be further used for more efficient capture of terrestrial invertebrates in cave environments.
