Druhá kapitola zasazuje bádání do rámce daného stravovacími zvyky Blízkého východu. Pojednává o čistých a nečistých zvířatech v knize Leviticus a Deuteronomium, o problematice rituálů a obětí, solných smlouvách, o jídle a pití v netradičních souvislostech, o předobrazech Eucharistie a zabývá se verši věnovanými střídmosti a štědrosti. The aim of this diploma thesis is to deal with food and drinks in the Old Testament. It offers classification of experience of widely approached issue of food and drinks throughout the Old Testament. The first chapter concerns with lexical aspects of food and drinks in the Old Testament based on facts. The second chapter researches eating habits of the Middle East. The next chapter delineates thoroughly the sources of food and drinks, as well as the ways of its gaining and processing. The following chapter is devoted to food and drinks in selected biblical connections; this chapter deals with the issue of clean and unclean animals coming from the book of Leviticus and the book of Deuteronomy, the problems of rituals and sacrifices, the covenants of salt, food and drinks in untraditional contexts, the archetypes of the Eucharist and the verses about grace and sober-mindedness. The fifth chapter is a comparison of three reconstructions of the Old Testament recipe for a lentil pottage. At last, the final chapter summarizes achieved results and offers other possibilities of research. To work with Biblical text the author used printed text of the Old Testament in Hebrew, Czech and English and corresponding electronic versions and programs designated for exploration of Biblical text, primarily ?The Bible Works?.
