V úvodní části diplomové práce bylo popsáno postavení sledovaného okresu v širším sídelním systému východních Čech, změny v jeho územně správní organizaci od 13. století do současnosti a také vývoj počtu obyvatel. V další, stěžejní kapitole byl popsán historický vývoj sídelního systému, a sice v období preindustriálním, industriálním a v období socialismu. V této části byl popsán také historický vývoj jednotlivých měst. Další kapitola se zabývala charakteristikou sídelní struktury od roku 1989 do současnosti a poslední kapitola nastínila její další rozvoj v budoucnosti.The introduction of this dissertation deals with the position of the observed district among the larger residential system of districts in eastern Bohemia, the changes in the territorial administration from the 13th century up to the present, and the changes of numbers of the population. The next (crucial) chapter deals with the historical development of the residential districts, which implies to the pre-industrial and the industrial period and to socialism. This part also provides the historical development of the individual cities. The other chapter deals with the characteristics of the residential structure from 1989 up to the present and the last chapter has outlined the further development in the future.
